For the Rest of Your Life – Tattooing the Juventus Ultras
Bored of superficial apps? Download Clocked, the new matchmaking, dating app from London. Find who makes you tick… http://thndr.it/1ELxQyN
A request…
To all my followers…
The CrispList is over 2 years young, and I’ve never asked for anything from you wonderful people. Well I’m afraid that I have to ask you for a favour now that would mean the world to me.
My housemate and I have been working for a few months with on a side project, Clocked, which we launched in the iTunes app store this week.
Clocked believes that compatibility is missing from today’s dating apps and that too much emphasis is placed on the superficial choices. Clocked connects your various online profiles to form a compatibility score for you and your matches. Each day you are matched with potential suitors, with a couple of wildcards thrown in for good measure.

As part of our initial marketing push, We’ve engaged a Thunderclap for Sunday morning. This is a way to generate momentum over social channels, by posting once, and once only, on the walls or feeds of everyone singed up simultaneously.
Could I ask, nay beg, you to sign up at the link below. And share as far and wide as you are able. Let’s bring some matching back into matchmaking.

THE UNTOUCHABLES - Erik Ravelo
Each work features both a child and an adult posed to demonstrate a contemporary evil, whether it be gun violence, molestation or the threat of nuclear war. Each work features a child being crucified on the back of an adult, each scene attempting to tell a different story about the loss of innocence. The human sculptures are then photographed with the child’s face blurred, resulting in images as visually jarring as they are conceptually saddening. “It’s art, it’s communication,” Ravelo explained. The artist has since received a number of death threats from a swathe of people who have taken exception to the photographs. The series has also been banned from Facebook.

Bonobo - The Flashlight EP
King of the down-tempo, purveyor of the understated, alchemist of the hinterland club sound, Bonobo returns with The Flashlight EP.

Ahead of his tour close appearance at Alexandra Palace in a few weeks for the 2 year, 28 country Northern Borders tour, the track takes it’s cue from garage, brimming with a vast, ocean-like bass, woozy synths and a martial snare.
Flashlight sits as the opening track from the recently released “Flashlight” EP, the calibre of which suggests even greater heights could be reached by his next full-length album.
Pelican and Return to Air complete the trio of tracks on an EP that can move the heart, feet and head all in equal measure.

Joey Basa$$ - Get Paid
Now, you could be the prophet
Or you could be the scholar, but what’s power?
Is knowing that your knowledge make you richer than the dollar

Whilst we eagerly await the release of B4.DA.$$, Joey Bada$$’s debut album, he has released a choice cut / outtake from the album on his SoundCloud today.
“Get Paid” is the sort of booming, heavy Hip Hop we’ve come to expect and love from the New-yorker, and that it appears to have not made the final cut of the record should only fuel expectations for the tracks that have.
J Relly Rell’s production of mutilated organ and skittish drums encapsulates the raw, ’90s-inspired aesthetic we first tasted on his 1999 Mixtape, and the no-frills production allows the Brooklyn boy to show off the extent of his lyrical skills, unleashing a barrage of cutting wordplay and deep-seated truths, all of which center on an insatiable hunger to establish his very own dynasty.
Joey Basa$$ plays the Shepherds Bush Empire on November 25th. Tickets available here.

Alt-J - Alexandra Palace - 24/9/14
Adventurous, precise, mesmerising, over-indulgent, all in equal measure…

Difficult second album syndrome is something that it’s fair to say may have crossed the minds of Alt-J over the past few weeks. Following up to An Awesome Wave, an album written in a Leeds University bedroom studio, which went on to sell over a million copies, and bag them a Mercury Music Prize in the process, is no small undertaking.
Last night, in front of a capacity crowd of 10,000 crammed into the rafters of Alexandra Palace, they had the opportunity to debut material from their new album, This Is All Yours, whilst also reminding their avid fans exactly why they are one of Britain’s most exciting bands.
Despite some critics reactionary disapproval of some of their new material, and reports of some uninspiring live shows, last night the band, shawn of founding member and bassist Gwil Sainsbury, acted as if his departure was just another small blip in their otherwise extraordinary ascent. As if to stand up to the skepticism, they proudly formed in a straight line at the front of the stage, as if to assert their unity. This was a band to take seriously.
Launching into the show with the debut single from their second album, Hunger of the Pine kept the crowd mumbling rather than fully engaging with the material.
Then, somewhat surprisingly, the band dropped straight into Fitzpleasure and then Something Good, and all of a sudden everyone’s attention was firmly on the stage.

Left Hand Free allowed them to indulge in a bluesy keyboard solo, channeling their best inner Black-Keys in the process, whilst Matilda garnered the loudest sing-along of the evening.
For all the high’s, there were the inevitable lows. Blood Flood and Bloodflood pt.II were filled with too many flat notes drawn over muddy sounds, whilst the introduction of a brass band for Warm Foothills didn’t really deliver against the promise. Although, as with their previous record, their new tracks look to be slow-growers that will reward a patient ear.
Both Taro & Dissolve me had such astonishing thrust live that it also begged the question of where the negative criticism of their live performances had ever come from, with Joe Newman masterfully handling the texture of the latter, deflating it’s bulbous bass lines with a delicate purr.
If this was anything to go by, Alt-J could be this year’s Foals, replacing their student friendly status with universal adulation. Their show at the O2 on January 24th goes on sale soon. If this was anything to go by, that could be quite a special evening.

Kendrick Lamar - i
This is not a drill…repeat this is not a drill…

Kendrick Lamar returns with a bang with the leak of his new single i.
Sampling the Isley Brothers’ “Who’s that Lady?”, the track is a jolly, latin-infused, massive, wry hip-hop track, full of cock-rock axes and rolling melodies.
Produced and mixed by Rahki and Ali respectively, all we can say is keep your ears peeled for more.

Goldroom - Otoño Mix 2014

I don’t post many Dj mixes on here anymore, mostly because it’s rare that I come across any that are worth posting. Goldroom duly obliges here however, delivering a sublime collection of tracks subtly mixed to deliver 60 minutes you’ll listen to over and over and over again.

Shannon Saunders - Sheets
No longer undercover ’
Cause you got another lover
Underneath the sheets

Until Sheets, it’s fair to say that Shannon Saunders had been somewhat of a DIY Youtube star, making some but not many waves on the London live music scene, managing to sell out small to medium sized venues around the capital.
The track is a simple though sophisticated house track, but the poignancy of the lyrics is where the song really comes into his own. The confidence of the husky, lyrical delivery is juxtaposed with her exploration of her sheer insecurity…
“I’m an accolade to my lover / because he doesn’t love me…/ am I worthy of my lover? / because he doesn’t love me.”
We think it’s safe to say she won’t be undercover for very long if she keeps producing tracks like this

Burial - Shell of Light (Louis la Roche House Edit)
God can you whisper in her ear?
I wasn’t sure if we could be friends

Here at the CrispList we like to try and only post the newest tracks from across the web, but every now and again, a track will slip through our net that we feel is too good not to share.
This Burial remix by Paris’ very own Louis la Roche is just such a find. As a rule, I think, the producers should try their absolute best to avoid touching Burial tracks. It’s not putting him on a pedestal or anything, but generally the originals are so complete and close to perfection that it doesn’t need an outside influence.
Somehow, Louis has managed to maintain the ghostly shell of the original , providing a melodic, melancholy turn for the best. This one will be on repeat today.
Happy Friday.

Linden Jay - Be Like You
Everyone out there wants to be like you…

Given that he has recently been on tour with Foreign Beggars, works regularly with crooneress and Disclosure favourite Sinead Harnett, and is the lead producer and best friend to Reeps, the world champion beat-boxer, it’s actually pretty surprising that Jay Linden, alias Linden Berelowitz, gets round to making any music at all.
He began making music in the UK as a teenager, before moving to Boston at the Berkley College of Music, where he won a prestigious scholarship.
He hit the general consciousness towards the tail end of last year with his breakthrough single Break The Hold feat. Ruby Wood.
Be Like You is set to propel him to new heights again, having featured on Annie Mac's Free Music Monday, as well as on The Magician’s new Mixtape 44.
